Change Flies to the Moon The Legend of Chinas Luna
Introduction
In ancient Chinese mythology, Chang'e is a legendary goddess who lives on the moon. According to the myth, Chang'e flew to the moon after accidentally consuming an elixir of immortality. Her story has been passed down through generations and remains one of the most popular Chinese folktales.
The Story Begins
Chang'e was once a mortal woman named Chang Kong, living in ancient China during the Han Dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE). She fell in love with a man named Hou Yi, who was known for his bravery and archery skills. Their love story became famous throughout China.
The Elixir of Immortality
One day, Hou Yi received ten suns from heaven as gifts for saving it from destruction caused by these celestial bodies. However, he realized that having so many suns would cause great suffering on Earth and decided to shoot nine of them back into heaven.
As a reward for his selflessness, he was given an elixir of immortality by Xiwangmu (Queen Mother of Heaven), but he refused it because he did not want to live forever without his beloved wife. Instead, he kept it hidden away from everyone else out of fear that they might try to use it against him or steal it for themselves.
The Tragic Accident
Unbeknownst to Hou Yi and Chang'e, their daughter Yutu discovered her father's secret stash while playing with her mother's hairpins. Curious about what lay inside one container she found among them - which happened to be half an elixir - she consumed its contents without knowing its true nature.
Within moments after ingesting the potion intended only for gods and immortals due to its divine essence contented within; this sudden transformation made her immortal too! As soon as Yutu had finished eating this magical substance meant solely meant just those destined souls chosen by heavens own handpicked ones:

Those few select individuals chosen specifically by celestial authority before being sent back down upon earth where life would continue until fate called again either way you look at such matters deeply intertwined between us humans & gods alike...
