The Origins of Pangu
In the beginning, there was nothing but a vast, dark void. This void contained two eggs that floated in an endless expanse of nothingness. One egg represented yin (the receptive and passive principle), while the other represented yang (the creative and active principle). After four thousand years, these eggs cracked open, releasing Pangu, the first living being.
Pangu's Birth
As he emerged from his eggshell prison, Pangu stretched his body to its full length. In doing so, he separated yin from yang by pushing it away with his hands and feet. From this act of separation came all things in existence – heaven above and earth below.
The Creation Myth
According to legend, after creating heaven and earth through his physical movements during birth process,Pangu decided to create more beings for company. He took some dust from the ground and breathed life into it. These creatures were called "Qilin," which are often depicted as benevolent dragons or unicorns in Chinese mythology.
