Pangu Creates the World An Ancient Chinese Creatio
In the beginning, there was only chaos. The universe was a vast, dark expanse of swirling energies and undifferentiated matter. From this void emerged Pangu, a primordial being tasked with creating order out of the abyss.
The Birth of Heaven and Earth
Pangu's first act was to separate the yin and yang forces that had been locked in eternal conflict since time immemorial. He stood on one leg, his body swaying gently as he pushed against the heavens above him with one hand and pressed down upon the earth below with the other. Slowly but surely, heaven and earth began to take shape.
As Pangu continued his labor, he created mountains, rivers, forests, and all manner of living creatures. His work complete at last, he took a step back to admire his handiwork before disappearing into eternity.
The Legacy of Pangu
Though Pangu himself is gone from our world now for millennia past,
His legacy remains in every mountain peak that touches
The sky so high it seems almost divine,
And every river that flows across China's land.
He gave us life itself; what more can we ask?
For life would not be possible without these things,
So let us never forget where they came from or how they were made.
Let us remember always to respect them too,
For their power is great beyond measure or compare;
They are sacred gifts given by our earliest ancestors long ago
To help us live well in harmony together here on earth forevermore.
