木匠
一个上了年纪的木匠准备退休了。他告诉他的雇主承包商他不想再盖房子了，想去与他的老伴过一种更加悠闲的生活。他虽然很留恋那份报酬，但他该退休了。他们的生活也能过得去。
承包商看到他的好工人要走感到非常惋惜，便问他能不能再建一栋房子，就算是给他个人帮忙。
木匠答应了，随着时间的推移，显而易见的是他的心已不在工作上，不仅手艺退步，而且还偷工减料。以这种方式结束他所热衷的事业令人感到遗憾。木匠完工后，雇主来看房子。他把前门的钥匙交给木匠。“房子归你了，”他说，“这是我送给你的礼物。”

机智木匠捉弄富人
woodworker and a wealthy man lived next door to each other. The wealthy man often bullied the woodworker.
One day, the woodworker decided to retaliate by secretly breaking down the wealthy man's front door. The wealthy man didn't see who had done it, so he called on the woodworker to make a new door for him. The woodworker said, "Making doors requires good materials." The wealthy man handed over a pile of lumber that was just enough for one door.
The wealthy man spent his days at home counting his money.
The woodworker came in and asked if he had finished making the door yet? He thought there might be some leftover materials left over from the original pile.
"Make me a window," said the rich neighbor.
The woodworker took apart what he had already made into a window frame and then asked again how much more work needed to be done.
"Make me an iron lid for my cooking pot," replied his neighbor with confidence that there would still be enough material left over after all this time has passed since they started building things together!
