Bangoday for their rescue, and proposed to marry her with the precious jade pendant as a token of his gratitude. In 201 BCE, Liu Bang ascended to the throne, and Qi Ji went to join him. They eventually became husband and wife.
Their story may not be recorded in any historical texts like the Twenty-four Histories, but it is mentioned in the Records of Shuining County. Qi Ji was young, beautiful, skilled in singing and dancing, much like a fairy. She was deeply loved by Liu Bang. However, this caused jealousy from Lü Hou.
The conflicts between Qi Ji and Lü Hou were multifaceted. Firstly, Liu Bang's love for them was different; he treated them differently due to their age difference. Secondly, Qi Ji's youthfulness and beauty surpassed that of Lü Hou; she excelled at song and dance arts; such women are always more favored by men.
Lü Hou had once married Liu Bang when he was just a county official from Pei County; life was hard for them both. Later on when Liu Bang went out to fight wars while leaving behind only Lü Hou who took care of everything including working hard herself for sustenance during those difficult times before becoming an empress later on after marrying into royalty through marriage with King Huiwen of Chu while still maintaining her status as a queen consort upon returning back home after losing her beloved husband whom she married since childhood days which gave birth to children but suffered many hardships throughout their lives together under harsh conditions often near starvation or even deathly sick as well yet managed all alone till they could afford food again etcetera...
