The Monkey King's Adventures

The most iconic character in Chinese folklore is undoubtedly Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King. His tale begins in "Journey to the West," a classic novel written by Wu Cheng'en during the Ming dynasty. Sun Wukong was once an ordinary monkey who gained divine powers after consuming magical peaches from Heaven's Peach Garden. With his incredible abilities, he challenged various deities before being subdued by Buddha himself.

Sun Wukong eventually becomes one of four celestial disciples tasked with retrieving sacred scriptures from India to combat evil forces threatening Buddhist teachings on Earth. Alongside his companions – Zhu Bajie (the pig-like warrior), Sha Wujing (the human skeleton), and Tang Sanzang (the monk) – they face numerous challenges while navigating treacherous landscapes and battling fierce demons.
