The Legend of Chang'e - The Moon Goddess
The legend tells us about Chang'e (the moon goddess) who lived in ancient times with her husband Hou Yi (the sun god). According to the story, Hou Yi was tasked with shooting down ten suns that threatened to destroy Earth by burning it up. After successfully completing his task, he became known as a hero and was rewarded with an elixir of immortality.
Chang'e was fascinated by the elixir and accidentally consumed some while trying it out. This led her to ascend to heaven where she became immortal and took up residence on the moon. She is now revered as a symbol of peace and tranquility in Chinese culture.
The Monkey King - Sun Wukong
Sun Wukong or better known as 'Monkey King' is one among many legendary characters in "Journey to the West," an influential novel written during Ming dynasty's reign (1368-1644). He is depicted as an incredibly powerful monkey who possesses supernatural abilities such as flying through space using his cloud somersault staff.
He gained fame after stealing peaches from Immortal Peaches Garden which granted him eternal youthfulness causing him immense power.
In reality however his mischievous behavior led him being banished from Heaven for creating chaos there.
As time passed he eventually made amends by helping Buddhist monk Xuanzang protect scriptures while journeying back home through treacherous lands filled with demons and other dangers they encountered along their path towards enlightenment.
Meng Po - Lady Forgettable
Meng Po is another character from Journey To The West whose name translates roughly into 'Lady Forgettable.' She serves at Heavenly Palace managing all souls entering after death's door before reincarnation begins anew.
Her role involves erasing memories so individuals don't remember past lives nor any connections they may have had before leaving behind mortal world; this allows them start fresh each new existence without any burdens or preconceived notions affecting their choices or actions within next life cycle based on what karma has decided fate should be like then determining how much hardship they'll face upon re-entering physical realm again later down road when time comes around once more cycle ends finally closes chapter book history forevermore till end days come knocking at our doorstep waiting patiently outside those doors leading nowhere else than straight back where we started initially seeking answers but couldn't find no matter how hard we tried searching high & low everywhere possible always ending up right back here standing still looking around wondering what happened wrong turn somewhere along winding paths taken long ago lost track altogether never knowing exactly why things turned out just like did...
